Temperatures are rising, snow is melting and it’s almost time to begin the most wonderful time of the year … peak construction season! Are you and your crew ready to work with SIPs? If not, Enercept University is a terrific opportunity to learn first-hand how the process of building with SIPs works.
Held in our corporate offices and manufacturing facility in Watertown, South Dakota, Enercept University is a two-day workshop focusing on all things SIPs, from seeing how the foam is made to assembling panels for a small cabin.
Since its inception in 2008, there have been 129 individuals participate in Enercept University.
Greg Soelter of GBS Builders in Kansas has attended the program twice and found it valuable. He gained insights and learned installation tricks, plus enjoyed the interaction between the builders and learning things they’d discovered while installing panels.
“I think if you’re going to be putting SIPs panels up, it’d be very beneficial to attend the class to understanding of how they go together,” Soelter says.
Instructor Jon Golz points out that having a factory-trained specialist at your location increases the credibility of your business. It also serves to connect the dots as far as the process goes, and that’s valuable as well.
“Get the what, why and how of Enercept SIPs with classroom and hands-on training,” Golz says. “Tours of our drafting, production and sales facilities will help all in attendance understand the entire purchasing process more fully.”
There will be education in the areas of marketing, sales, estimating, HVAC sizing for SIP homes, drafting, and production of Enercept SIPS. Building relationships with the individual departments at Enercept as well as getting to know others in our industry will be another area of focus.
In addition to building a network, class participants will build a small cabin under the direction of Enercept’s production supervisor, Chuck Lenards.
“After 11 years of on-site assistance and a total of 20-plus years of employment at Enercept, I have learned the value of SIP construction and what is provides to the end consumer,” Lenards says. “I look forward to doing Enercept University again and sharing my knowledge.”
The fee for the course is $200 and includes “Factory Trained Installation Specialist” certification; course curriculum (compiled and presented by veterans in the SIPs industry); two-night hotel stay with continental breakfast; three meals plus snacks; Enercept University t-shirt and a group photo.
Class size is limited to 20 participants, and registration is on a first come, first served basis. Should there be enough interest, subsequent sessions will be added.
Prerequisite to attending the workshop is to have read both the Enercept Construction Guide and Electrical Guide. Copies of each can be downloaded at Enercept.com/technicalguide.
Enercept will provide all supplies, tools, and equipment necessary to complete the course.
